    PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports is proud to announce today that it has signed two of the hottest young stars in the sportscars world to fight for the 2019 IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.  Matt McMurry and Gabriel Aubry will pilot the #52 Oreca 07 LMP2 during the 2019 season and will hit the track for the first time as new teammates at the Roar before the 24, in preparation for the Rolex 24 at Daytona where they will be joined by two additional drivers who will be announced in the near future.

    Among the participants in last week’s Michelin on-track opportunity at Daytona International Speedway was Cooper MacNeil, driver of the No. 63 WeatherTech Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 for Scuderia Corsa. 

    MacNeil closed out the 2018 season with a flourish. He scored a GT Daytona class victory alongside co-drivers Gunnar Jeannette and Daniel Serra in October’s Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, and then went on to win the Ferrari Challenge North America championship in early November’s Ferrari World Final at Italy’s famed Monza circuit.

    As a sports car racer, Townsend Bell has accomplished quite a bit throughout his career.

    He’s won the “triple crown” of endurance racing with victories in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He’s a champion of both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

    Rounding out the 2019 full-season driver line-up for AIM VASSER SULLIVAN is Floridian Richard Heistand. Heistand will partner with Jack Hawksworth in all 11-rounds of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. 

    “We are excited to complete our full season line-up for AIM VASSER SULLIVAN,” explained AVS principal and team engineer Ian Willis. “Richard joins us after a successful return to racing this past year in Europe where he held his own against top amateur and professional drivers in the highly competitive Porsche Supercup series.”

    Signaling a strong start to the 2019 WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca season, first week of advance ticket sales increased over the previous year for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

    The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, which features the 50th anniversary of IMSA August 15-18, climbed 24 percent over first week of sales for the same time period. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the premier sports car racing series in North America that returns to Monterey September 13-15, jumped 32 percent in sales.

    Anglo American Oil Company Ltd, distributors for Sunoco Race Fuels throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East, today announced that Kyle Reid, winner of this year’s Sunoco 240 Challenge, will be driving for Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team in the No. 26 BMW M4 GT4 sports car at the 2019 IMSA season opener at Daytona International Speedway.

    Reid will be joining Toby Grahovec and Jayson Clunie for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge four-hour event, BMW Endurance Challenge at Daytona on January 25, 2019.

    Alianza Motorsports will return to the IMSA Prototype Challenge grid in 2019 as part of a new partnership with Gilbert Motorsports. After debuting in 2018 with in collaboration with Forty7 Motorsports, the team achieved a podium finish at Barber Motorsports Park among its four starts.

    The newly formed Alianza - Gilbert Motorsports entry will be piloted by Anthony Simone and Rodrigo Pflucker beginning at the season-opener in early January at Daytona International Speedway.
